Albus Dumbledore Stepping Down From Hogwarts

Albus Dumbledore is stepping down from Hogwarts. This decision has been made after months of debate by Dumbledore and his staff. He says that he is not inclined to leave but hard times are coming and "sometimes we face the choice between what is right and what is easy."

His successor, Lord Gandolf, as pictured (top left) is thrilled by this opportunity. As a wizard and the bearer of a Ring of Power, Gandolf has great power, but works mostly by encouraging and persuading. He sets out as Gandolf the Grey, possessing great knowledge, and travelling continually, always focused on the mission to counter the Dark Lord. Dumbledore states "I am confident that Gandolf will do an admirable job as my successor."


Ministry of Magic Recruiting For Defense Against The Dark Arts Dept.

Defense Against the Dark Arts is the class that teaches defensive magic to students in order to protect themselves against the Dark Arts. Often simply referred to as DADA class.The position of DADA professor was cursed by Tom Riddle when Dumbledore refused to let him teach at Hogwarts. Every professor only held the position for exactly one year, and their tenure ended in some drastic untimely way.
